Brandon Carter Texas Tech

On Saturday night at the Alamo Bowl, one of the more unique players who will be taking the field will be offensive lineman Brandon Carter from Texas Tech. Carter who resembles a WWE wrestler with his face-paint and hair styles, is a 23 year old senior from Longview Texas.

Coming in at a strapping 344 pounds and at 6 foot seven, he is an exercise sport major and wants to pursue a college football coach job following his playing career.

Carter was a top 300 considered overall prospect from Spring  Hill High in Longview, and was eventually recruited by the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Many other schools tried to snatch this top recruit including Notre Dame, Baylor, TCU, Kansas and Nebraska.

Texas Tech definitely drew the long stick!

Although he has been surrounded by controversy, stemming from another stand out figure, the recently sacked coach Mike Leach. Back in September 2009 Leach suspended Carter for a violation of team policy, with no other comments made about the decision.

Although, Carter was reinstated  to play on October 4th, 2009, after missing only a single game.Meanwhile Carter took to his Twitter account to voice his thinking around the decision saying,

“I am not a captain anymore and will not be playing this week. Good luck red raiders ill still be cheering on my family from the stands!!:),” He wrote.
“This is not how I saw our season,” he wrote only a few minutes after the Red Raiders’ loss. “I just cried like am [sic] idiot. I want us to be so good my last year and I feel like I’m letting everyone down.”

The whole Brandon Carter Texas Tech suspension still is a mystery even as late as the Alamo Bowl 2010.

And one still wonders why he sits on his Twitter account while the rest play, maybe one day we will find out the answer.
