There are rumours amounting that former Baltimore Ravens head coach,  Brian Billick is a viable candidate for an opening soon to be available for Notre Dame.

According to Spencer Tillman,  of CBS Sports who reported the rumour, at the half of the Alabama – Auburn game.

He said he had spoken to a few people close to the process of the Notre Dame’s who mentioned that Billick’s name has came up as a “strong and viable candidate for that opportunity.”

Billick is expected to replace Weis as coach. Billick’s last involvement with a college game was 17 years ago.

Billick born in 1954,  has coached for NFL’s Baltimore Ravens from 1999 to 2007, leading them to a 34-7 victory over the New York Giants in Super Bowl XXXV.  He also works as a National Football League game analyst for Fox.

And with the Vikings where they made the play offs during six of the seven seasons from 1992-1998 , in which Billick was with them.

He was also put under the Sid Gillman coaching tree.

Notre Dame are a team of the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA.

They play at the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision level as an Independent. All their home games are televised on NBC TV. Seven of their team have won the Heisman Trophy. The Notre Dame stadium holds a capacity of 80,795 where the team plays their home games.

Billick was fired from his position as head coach from the Baltimore Ravens, after a season which found the team went 5-11 including 1-5 in the division and lost to a team that was deemed as win less the Miami Dolphins. Steve Bisciotti the Ravens owner describing it as the toughest decision he ever had to make.

After the sacking Billing stated that he thought Bisciotti did what he believed was best for the Ravens, and said that the two men are and would remain friends.

Billick also appeared in 1977 on a game show called Match Game PM, where he lost to Marla Marshall. A panelist named Richard Dawson stating at the loss : “Failed at football. Failed at Match Game. Where will you go now?”
