Lotteries are one of the biggest money makers the states have. They’re set up so the states cannot lose money. That means in the long run that the people who play the lotto cannot win money. Your odds are better at the race track or casino where their take is smaller than the state’s take in the lotto.

If your mother spends $60 a day on those scratch off tickets, is she a multi-millionaire?

You should check the back of those tickets and see what the stats are on your chance of winning. It ain’t gonna be in your favor.

Why do you think the lotteries have so much money? They wouldn’t let themselves lose money by giving more winning money that what they earn. The whole thing about the lottery is you might win but not as much money as you spend. Does your Mom get $70 a day back from those scratchies? Put simply, no.

Scratch tickets give about a 80% pay back, so odds are, you will lose 20% of your 100$ leaving 80$.
