Erik Gates
A Thousand Oaks, California resident Erik Gates, a friend of hobby rocketry, and the current director serving on the board of the Tripoli Rocketry Association, and also the former director of the Rocketry Organisation of California, died this past weekend.
Gates better known for his appearances on the reality TV show, Masterblasters, while also on the TV series Mythbusters, where he appeared in four episodes from 2003 to 2005.
According to reports, Gates an electrical contractor, was walking along a roof, when he fell through a skylight, he was taken to Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks where he later died from injuries sustained from the fall.
As a tribute the Executive Producer of Mythbusters, Dan Tapster, has said that the show’s season premier due on December 28th on the Discovery Channel will be dedicated to Gates.
Gates owned and operated his electrical contracting business Gateco Electric, which provides electrical services around the southern portion of California.
Within hobby rocketry, Gates was unparalleled in his projects, he was also remembered for his friendly personality talking to strangers as if he had known them for years.
