Finally free wifi at airports

It has been a difficult year for both passengers and the airline industry. Travel delays have forced passengers to spend countless hours at airports and airlines have continued to jack up fees. However, now Google comes to the rescue with news of Free Wifi Access at 47 airports across continental America. Being an avid traveler, being stuck at the airport can be a real nuisance. Wireless services  have typically charged anywhere from $10-$20/day for Wifi connections at airports but most passengers hardly use more than a few hours of this service. Surveys have indicated that paid Wifi services are costly and not practical for most passengers.

Now Google has announced that  Seattle, Boston, Houston and 44 other airports will have free Wifi. The promotion is a joint cooperation between Google and boingo wireless, a Los Angeles based company that offers Wifi hotspots at many airports.

Boingo will offer a 20 minute free Wifi access provided everyone watches a 20 sec video ad first. During the promotion, users of free Wifi will also be asked to donate to charities of their choice and these contributions will be matched by Google.

Google is already providing free wifi on Virgin transatlantic service for the same period

To remain competitive EBay Inc will also provide free wifi on some delta planes during the thanksgiving week. However, viewers will be first taken to an Ebay holiday page; just in case they have forgotten to buy a gift for their loved ones.
