George Steinbrenner

The New York Yankees have made it to the World Series and George Steinbrenner will definitely be there to see them. Said Hal Brenner, “I think all these players are doing this for him,” Hal said. “We want to win this whole thing for him. I think we feel like he’s here being a big part of it.”

The New York Yankees, baseball’s leading spenders on top notch players, at last came through  with their first title in six years Sunday night, resoundingly beating the Los Angeles Angels 5-2 in Game 6 of the American league championship series which featured  Andy Pettitte.

It has been a long time since the Yankees last returned to the World Series. For the past few years, even with the addition of Alex Rodriguez and Andy Pettitte, it was felt by many that this team no longer knew how to win the crucial games. Now with this win, there is hope for more success.

Hal further added, “I can tell you he’ll be excited to be here Wednesday night. That’s for sure. It means a lot to him. It’s been a lot of years. A lot of years. It’s been six, and [Joe] Girardi has done a great job and we’re all proud. The whole organization is proud of this team.”

On Wednesday night, the New York Yankees will host defending champions Philadelphia in the World Series opener. For the Yankees, CC Sabathia is going to face MVP Cliff Lee in match up which many feel will be intense and hopefully exciting.

The fiery George has not been doing well and his health has on the decline over the past few years. He has been absent from the game since the home opener in early April this past year. Hope the Yankees can go all the way and win it for George.
