Well, finally we have conclusive proof that Glenn Beck is a liar. For reasons passing understanding, Mr. Beck and his cohorts were able to get a fair number of people to come to Washington (with others gathering elsewhere across the country) to protest – we’re not quite sure what, but they were madder than hell. The Park Service’s official estimate placed the crowd in the tens of thousands, and we think that was probably a little low. However, Glenn Beck placed it the next morning at almost 2 million. That’s just insane. We wonder if he’s back on drugs.
In support of their estimate (not sure what qualifications Beck has to estimate crowds, but a lack of qualification has never stopped him before), Beck and his band of followers circulated this photo, supposedly of their march. I was actually pretty impressed. But having lived my whole life in DC, i noticed something wasn’t quite right. The Museum of the American Indian isn’t in this photo, and its exterior structure went up in 2004.
So, either Beck or his band of wackos discovered time travel, or someone is very good at photoshop. We realize Beck is an alcoholic and all, but this was a pretty stupid lie.
What scares me the most is that people actually listen to this man. One even responded to an earlier article in my Glenn Beck series calling him a “scholar.” Given that he never finished high school, we are not sure how one might back that one up.
To further illustrate my point, a growing list of Republicans seem to agree with me, albeit they are likely less emphatic than I am. Joe Scarborough was critical of Beck recently, as was former Bush speech writer Peter Wehner. Now, I assume that 5 minutes after I post this, a Beckie will post a comment “educating” me that Scarborough isn’t a real Republican. I’ll grant you, he’s more of a RINO. Pete Whener is not.
Also, for those of you who would compare Beck to Keith Olberman, I would remind you that Olberman isn’t a race baiter, and there is at least a modicum of news involved in his show, although I acknowledge that he swings left.
My point is simply that Beck’s crusade against Communism raises serious questions as to whether he requires psychiatric care. We might suggest that rather than pointlessly whipping people into thinking Armageddon is around the corner that he might try to channel his following into something more productive.
Well Mr. Franks you seem to have gotten several facts wrong and generally don’t understand whom your writing about very well at all. He Graduated Sehome HS Bellingham, WA. in 1982. The photo you posted has already been discredited by Glenn Beck on his program. On his site, the photos of the 9/12 project show this Glenn Beck has stated he views himself a Libertarian more now than anyhting resembling a Republican. So your points about Joe and Peter are pretty much irrelevant. As to Olberman, let’s see… Former sports channel talking head turned serious newsman. Nope, not buying that one. Beck, didn’t respond too much to Olberman simply because it was pointless to argue with the competition that you beat usually by a 2 to 1 margin.

You forgot to mention, Beck also left his wife and two daughters for another woman. When his disc-jockey partner’s wife had a miscarry, As a prank, Glenn called him while he was live on the air and told him, “I heard your wife had a miscarriage” “you are so pathetic” “you can’t even get your wife through a normal pregnancy”
Both his mother and brother committed suicide. Beck was on suicidal watch for a while himself.
Just leave Beck alone-he is his worst enemy and guilt will eventually kill him.
Beck spouts Mormon endtimes scenarios. I grew up hearing all of this stuff-Skousen, John Bircher stuff….it is paranoid thinking for disillusioned people and what it generally leads to (can’t say promotes) is either apathy (because everything on earth is corrupt and these folks are just dying for the return of Jesus who will kick the asses of all the non-righteous) or violence. It is scary to me that Beck has latched onto this narrow view and worked as his schtick. His claim “don’t focus on the messenger, focus on the message” is right out of the Mormon script. Go back and read what Joseph Smith said and how Mormons defend him. Beck, I suspect, views himself as a player in the Mormon apocalyptic end-just as my brother does. It is a narrative lifted from the Book of Mormon. trust me, Beck has to have huge support from Mormons for this fear mongering, conspiracy world he is selling. I hope the church loves the backlash against their latest favorite son.

This is what it comes down to, isn’t it. You’re out to have more than 1/2 of the population of the United States ‘eliminated.’ There is the Beck supporter’s version of ‘patriotism’ folks, brace yourselves, and be ready.
Olbermann (the name is spelled w/ two Ns) has received numerous awards for sports broadcasting and also for news (including news writing). He has substantial experience in both.
While I personally prefer straight news reporting, I understood with sadness the necessity of MSNBC switching to a more political format due to the mainstream media’s lack of focus on the Bush administration’s excesses and the right wing’s insanity overall. SOMEBODY had to say it, and keep saying it, until those self-declared proud imperialists were seen by the general public for what they were, and are.
I wish MSNBC would switch back to straight news now. MSNBC, if you’re listening, you can switch back now. Rachel would make a superb newswoman, it’s written all over her. Keith has already shown his excellence in that regard. I’m just not sure what they’d do with Ed.
I would love to know what you feel would be a more “productive” use of Glenn’s time and talent. If stopping a bunch of progressives from positioning themselves for a takeover of the country and our liberty isn’t good enough, I can’t imagine what would be.

Beck is pushing Cleon Skousen, who has been exposed as being more than dishonest about his FBI record. Willard Cleon Skousen, has been caught and caught big. Skousen was not anything more than a lower level FBI administrator, never trained in investigations into communism, or communism subversion AND never worked closely with J.E. Hoover, as Skousen claimed. In fact, it appears Hoover didn’t think much of Skousen, and felt his books were doing more harm than good, making investigating more difficult for the FBI.
