InfraGard
The United States Federal government, started InfraGard, back in 1996, in a Field Office in Cleveland Ohio. It partners the Federal intelligence and law enforcement agencies with other private corporations, allowing them to share information.
From December 2009 there were more than 34,000 government agencies and corporations that are members.
It has been expanded to become a national level program, and in each FBI field office there is now a InfraGard coordinator.
It was created at a local level, to attain support, from academia and the information technology industry for the FBI’s investigative efforts in the cyber arena. Although it is now expanded to handle a much wider range of activities surrounding the USA’s infrastructure.
From 2003, InfraGard Alliances along with the FBI have developed a trust based public sector partnership, to gain reliability and integrity of information exchanged regarding various terrorism, intelligence, criminal and security matters.
It allows the FBI to support priorities such as counterterrorism, foreign counterintelligence and cybercrime.
