Kelly Gray St John
Some big decisions are happening already for the New Year over at luxury brand, St. John.
They have decided to scrap Angelina Jolie as the face of the high end clothing brand.
The brand which is a luxury fashion brand of formal wear, was founded in 1962 by Robert and Marie Gray. It is headquartered in Irvine, California and has it’s collections and styles sold in specialty stores in 29 countries and 31 company owned retail boutiques in the United States.
CEO of St. John Glenn McMahon claims that the decision to drop Jolie was made because the company believes the star “overshadowed the brand,” according to Women’s Wear Daily.
McMahon also said, “We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blonde’s and cleanse the palette.”
Kelly Gray also a model for the brand was dropped from the campaign, both she and Jolie have now been replaced by the model Karen Elson, who is married to musician Jack White from the White Stripes.
The newest Ad campaign which was shot by photographer Gred Kadel, intends to “show a modern point of view of St. John. We have evolved.”
The campaign will be seen in the February issues of Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue.
Model Kelly Gray, daughter of founder Marie Gray, has featured in the ad campaigns for two decades. After replacing her with Gisele in 2005, then three years later with Angelina Jolie/Mario Testino, She will now go for more unknowns although Kelly will still work behind the scenes.
