Rep. Charles Boustany Delivers Republican Response

Rep. Charles Boustany (R-LA)

Rep. Charles Boustany (R-LA)

Rep. Charles Boustany was selected to deliver the Republican response to President Obama’s speech, and in him we may have found the one Republican on the planet who hasn’t been taken in by Rush Limbaugh and our favorite moron, Glenn Beck.  We thought Boustany’s response was well delivered and substantive.

From a PR perspective, the behavior of Rep. Joe Wilson overshadowed anything the Republicans could have said or done this evening, so Boustany, a Heart Surgeon, had to be 100% on point.  And, while we think he left himself open to an accusation that he was splitting hairs, his response was properly measured, and missing the hysteria that has been present among the Glenn Beck set for the past month and a half.

    Dear Representative;
    There are some responsible Republicans still out there; thanks.
    I became a Republican after President Reagan’s farewell speech; I thought I had found a party that had values I could get behind. I sent hundreds of dollars to help Republicans get elected. But, to tell you the truth, the Republican party has lost it’s way. Congressman Wilson has just about put me over the edge. All I can say to the Republican party is, they need to differentiate in an honorable way from the rest of the politicians, or there isn’t any reason to be a Republican.
    We as a nation need health care for everyone. I have kids and grand kids with out health care. The ones who have it spend $2000 a month and still have to pay a $2400 deductible. Thanks not health care, that’s grand thrift. We need a plan, and if the Republicans won’t participate rationally they are just warming a seat in congress.
    Very Respectfully, Joe Ross
