Steve Phillips is Gone

Well, this morning the news is not unexpected for Steve Phillips. He has been fired by ESPN. All this comes a week after revelation of his affair with a younger co worker- Brooke Hundley. The announcement came on very late Sunday night because ESPN probably thought that this would go on unnoticed. Sorry ESPN the news media was just waiting for this news. The front pages of ESPN announced the dismissal in a bland tone,

“Steve Phillips is no longer working for ESPN,” network spokesman Josh Krulewitz said in a statement. “His ability to be an effective representative for ESPN has been significantly and irreparably damaged, and it became evident it was time to part ways.”

One should not feel all that sorry for Steve Phillips. He should have learnt his lesson from a previous sexual tryst much earlier in his career. This time he was having sex with another young co worker and dumped her after a few months which did not bode well with his wife or ESPN. The question now is what happens to Brooke Hundley who has been just much of an embarrassment to ESPN as Steve. Brooke not only slept with Steve but had the nerve to go to his home, harass his wife and pretend to be someone else on Facebook while trying to chat with Steve’s son.

For Steve, his promising career in baseball as a broadcaster has come to  a premature end and his marriage is also on the rocks. Besides seeking counseling, Steve should seek the services of a tailor who can help him make pants with a permanent zipper. For Brooke, her future at ESPN remains murky; but one thing is for sure, she will definitely not be getting a Christmas turkey from ESPN.
