The episode went a little something like this;

With Rita Bennett (Dexter’s wife), and one other major characters being killed. The shows producers had said they wanted to give a shocking finale that no other show had done. Looks like they succeeded.

Clyde Phillips the executive producer explained,”The story evolved and it kind of became inevitable. We knew that we had to do more than kill Trinity. It’s a little bit of a corner that we paint ourselves into. Last year we tried to avoid that and actually I think we didn’t do as well as we could have.” in answer to why they also had Rita fall.

The shocking finale, on Sunday Dec 13, leaves us with a insight of Dexter’s own memories. And how he watched his mother die in front of him and also soaked in her blood, with Rita leaving to go to a romantic escapade only to forget her ID, this is when she ends up being murdered in the bathtub, by Trinity. Meanwhile the baby Harrison is left crying in a pool of her blood.
Phillips also revealed that Julie Benz who plays Rita, was not too happy about being killed off. “She loved being with us. We loved having her with us. She took it… professionally. She was greatly disappointed. She’s a professional. She works in television. She knew that this was a possibility.”

The writers also had an alternative ending for the finale, which was not chosen at the end. “While Dexter was packing to leave, he saw on the television that a child murderer had just escaped from prison. Either escaped or fallen thru the cracks. So he’s thinking, ‘Do I join Rita on vacation or do I…’ and then he looks towards the camera and he has this big decision,” Phillips explained.

We will be waiting till around September for the shows return, where we can see the outcome to Deb finding out that Dex is related to the Ice Truck Killer, and if she will find out about his alter ego.

So as you can see it was a drama filled finale for the season, and we will all be surely glued to the screen for the return next year.

The last episode of Showtime’s Dexter, definitely left with a cliffhanger.

The season which has seen the serial killing forensic scientist, learning to become a loving husband and father, while trying to subdue his alter ego. And also dealing with Trinity, another serial killer who Dex, should of dealt with with first finding out who he was.

This episode shows Dexter being found out by Trinity, as Trinity (Arthur Mitchell) finally finds out that “Kyle” is really Dexter.

He gives Dexter an ultimatum to leave him alone and he will leave Dexter alone. Although Dexter doesn’t give up that easily, following Trinity to a bank, where a drama unfolds with Dexter breaking a mirror on a car, fleeing from the scene in which the owner tracks him down. Which leads to a confrontation when Dexter subdues Trinity in his van with a shot, this finally ending with Dexter getting arrested.

We also see Dexter and Rita are planning a romantic getaway, after collecting him from jail. Although Trinity is also planning a getaway, not knowing the homicide department is closing in on him.

When Rita is leaving for her flight, she remembers something she has forgotten and has to return home, she calls and leaves a message for Dexter and that she will be getting a later flight.

While this is going down, Dexter goes to Trinity’s house , just as his own team bust through the door, although Dexter gets away, and re-enters like he had gotten there at same time. But Trinity is gone and also discovers what Trinity is planning to do, he takes an oil cap from his car, to ensure the car breaks down. Giving him the chance to kill him.

But when he finally returns home he finds his wife murdered and his son crying in the bathroom with Rita’s blood over him, Trinity had gotten there and left a scene very familiar to Dexter’s own upbringing.

This shocked most viewers and leaves a world of possibilities for the next season.

Dexter airs on the premium channel Showtime. The drama series set in Miami, centres on Dexter Morgan ( Michael C. Hall) who works as a blood splatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department. But Dexter holds a secret, he is also a serial killer.

Jeff Lindsay created the characters for the his series of novels. It was then adapted to television by James Manos Jr, an Emmy Award winning screenwriter,  who also wrote the pilot episode.

The series since it’s launch has received critical acclaim and won two Emmy’s in technical categories.

American serial killer Tommy Lynn Sells today confessed to the murder of Katy Harris and slashing the throat of Krystal Surles.

It was ten years ago in Texas 1999, when in the still of the night 10 year old Krystal Surles throat was cut after watching her friends murder.

It was her will to live that brought a serial killer to his justice.

Sells revisited the crime scene with Texas Rangers and recounted the attack and demonstrated the way he attacked the girls.

According to Sells he was 16 years old when he committed his first murder.

When he was working as a carny in Missouri in 1985, he met 29 year old Ena Cordt. He says that he was invited to her home for consensual sex. Three days later the bodies of Ena Cordt and her son of  four years old were found.

Sells also is suspected of the murder of Suzanne Korcz in New York in 1987. And also in 1987, the murder of the Dardeen Family,  and a co-worker in 1998 in Texas.

He claims to have killed upwards of 70 people as told to an interview with Columbia University forensic psychiatrist.

Sells along with his twin sister Tammy Jean at 18 months old, contracted meningitis. His sister died from the inflammation where as Sells survived. He lived with his aunt until he was 5 after being sent there to Holcomb, Missouri.

A man who Sells befriended at eight, who was from a neighbouring city would later be a suspect of child molestation.

Kaylene Harris was fatally stabbed 16 times , and Krystal Surles throat cut. She would survive to later give the police a description using a sketch, which would assist in his apprehension.

Up until his confession today he was serving a death row sentence in Livingston, Texas.
