Tedd Liggett

Mike Leach the embattled Texas Tech coach who was suspended due to complaints from a player and his parents, has hired Ted Liggett, a Lubbock based attorney who has been doing a round of phone interviews on the the television networks including ESPN.

As of 2 PM, Liggett was not ready to outline publicly what action he will take in the case, but did say he would pursue legal action in an attempt to overturn Leach’s suspension.

Liggett, in the ESPN interview said that Adam James may have actually been unhappy with his time playing with Tech.

“I have no idea why this young man is making these allegations,” he said, “unless, he is not happy or wasn’t happy with the possibly the playing time he was getting. I don’t know.”

He later spoke about Jame’s father, Craig who is a ESPN analyst and former SMU giant saying, “As far as is it common knowledge that Mr. James is a helicopter dad in some circles? Possibly. Is it common knowledge that he calls position coaches more than any other father on the team? Possibly. I’ve heard that.”

Liggett claimed that Leach had never breached his contract with Tech saying, “As I sit here right now we have no idea what we are accused of doing. I have a simple, four-sentence later saying there’s an investigation going on… That’s it.”

Meanwhile,  Tech is in San Antonio preparing for Saturday’s Valero Alamo Bowl.
