XBox 360 Christmas Sales

When you are shopping for Christmas sales, the hardest thing is to decide is which game system and games to buy.  Every system has it’s aficionados, and only the shopper can decide which one to pick.  Of course, if your budget allows, if you already have a Playstation 3, why not buy an XBox for some variety?

It’s hard to compare prices because so much depends on the model and accessories you want.  Both Target and Best Buy are currently offering the Holiday Elite Console for $299.92.  For the Premium Console, it will set you back $399.92.

As part of the $349 bundle, you’ll also get a wireless controller–the 360 has built-in wireless capabilities but only for controllers, not Wi-Fi. Each 360 console is now available in several colors, including pink, blue, and black.

Amazon currently has a Christmas Sales deal.  It’s an Xbox 360 Elite Winter Lego Batman/Pure Bundle for $274.00 plus free shipping. As it gets closer to Christmas, you might find even better deals.  Do your research.  And please watch out for scams.  There is a site online called Bid Fun that claims you can get an Xbox for $31.91.  Checking with users, they say it’s a scam.  Nobody has the winning bid.  They blew it by making the “winning” bid ridiculously cheap.  Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  If you are shopping online go for reliable sites such as Amazon and Walmart.

Speaking of reliability, the Xbox 360 has been plagued by a series of hardware problems, represented by the “red ring of death”–the three flashing red lights that the console displays when a major hardware malfunction has occurred. Many believe this was caused by overheating and poor airflow within the console’s innards. Since admitting to the problem in July 2007, Microsoft has extended the original 90-day warranty on all newly purchased 360s to a full year. Additionally, any Xbox 360 that suffers from a hardware failure marked by three red flashing lights is now covered for three years from the original purchase date. so, hopefully, the newest Xbox 360s should be much more reliable than older models.
One of the drawbacks of the system is that it is just just a lot noisier than it should be–definitely more so than rival consoles from Nintendo and Sony.  That could be a deal breaker for some.

For some fun before you hit the Xbox Christmas sales, go to XBox Live and you can try games for free before you buy them.
