Zebra Atlanta

It was a dramatic scene, in the rush hour traffic in Atlanta Thursday afternoon. The traffic came to a stand still, as an escaped circus zebra trotted along a very busy section of the highway.

It was around 4.30 p.m. in downtown Atlanta, that the animal was spotted, said Monica Luck who is a spokesperson from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The zebra continued through downtown, to the interstate highway which goes through the city center. Police blocked the area and the southbound lanes, and were able to capture the animal in a shoulder of  the highway.

Luck said, “It wasn’t on the highway very long,” she added. “But it was an inconvenient time for this to happen because the downtown connector southbound usually gets backed up on its own, that time of day.”

The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus were in the town for the week. It also had a small group of elephants that were contained in a downtown parking lot in Atlanta.
