Mike Fisher Hockey Player
American Idol Winner Carrie Underwood 26, has a lot to be happy about this holiday season.
Underwood is now engaged to Ottawa’s Senators, hockey player Mike Fisher. Fisher confirmed the news to the Ottawa Sun saying, “It’s true,” “We’re both obviously excited and very happy.”
A statement from Carrie’s rep also confirmed the news saying, “I’m happy to confirm that Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher, and the couple couldn’t be happier,” “No wedding date has been set at this time.”
Reportedly, a family friend accidentally broke the news of the engagement while congratulating the couple on his Twitter page.
Chris Neil, a teammate on Mike’s hockey team said, “I think it’s great. It’s a long time coming. There’s going to be a lot of broken hearts in Ottawa with all those girls who are in love with Mikey.”
Carrie had even included Mike in her recognitions on her album “Play On” adding, “Thank you #12,” referring to his jersey number. “You are the most amazing addition to my life! You are such a wonderful person and have had such an amazing hand in the building of this album and in the growth of me as a person. I love you so much! You make my life better in every way! I thank God for you every day. … xoxo, Carrie.”
Carrie had also dated Tony Romo, Jessica Simpson’s ex boyfriend.
The couple who have dated for almost a year, have kept their relationship very private and personal, up until now.
Looks like it is a great start to the New Year for the happy couple.
